Each basket was woven from clay reclaimed/recycled from the scraps and leavings in the different community studios I work in. Mimicking a traditional winnowing basket shape to call upon the shared agricultural histories of my European ancestors and the indigenous people of Sonoma County, the Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo, now recognized as the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, I'm questioning present-day disparities between agricultural practices and renewal of the land.
